Loving Your Neighbor as Yourself

Life Now Changed Ministries

I sat there thinking...What Can I do for the Kingdom? What does God want me to do?

Reading God's Word, I read Matthew 22:36-39. When Jesus was asked what is the greatest commandment in the law, Jesus answered "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."

I asked myself; how can I love the Lord and love my neighbor? What should a Christian do?

I knew that Jesus wants his disciples to fulfill the great commission; to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey the Lord's commands. So I felt convicted to do more. To open up doors that may lead to sharing Christ with people.

How can I do it? How can you do it? We can love God and love our neighbor by serving our community. We can begin by keeping our mind open to our community and surroundings. Every church we attend should have outreaches and ways that they help our community. One way my church makes an impact is by packing a lunch for under privileged children for example.

Just last night I was at a different church function and noticed that there was a mother with her young son and daughter there being served a meal, and then sleeping at that church for the week. I inquired about what was going on and how someone could help. They informed me that their church opens up their doors to families that don't fit in the local rescue mission guidelines as the rescue mission seperates the women and girls from the men and boys. Obviously, that mother didn't want to be separated from her two kids. That's where this church stepped in. I am so proud of that church. They and their volunteers are making an impact in their community. They house people and help them back up on their feet. When you've fallen it's easier to get up if someone lends a hand? Will you extend a hand to those in need? That is loving your neighbor. Proverbs 19:17 says, "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and [H]e will reward them for what they have done." NIV

Make an impact today in His name. Ask the Lord for opportunity. Pray for our ministry. Pray for your church. Let His light shine through you in your community. Together we can make make an impact and we will make an impact.

This ministry is how I plan to make an impact. Sit back and watch the Lord move in my community.
